Why it’s good for mums
There’s no cooking, just heat and serve. If your kids like it, you have a meal you know they’ll eat at a Chinese restaurant.

Why it’s good for kids
Kids love using their fingers to eat and it’s not bad for adults either! Kids also like adding food to food so they should enjoy selecting what they want to put in their pancake and rolling it up to eat.

Ingredients   Method

600g purchased Chinese roast pork, sliced thinly
1-2 dozen Peking Duck pancakes
¾ cup hoisin
1-2 Lebanese cucumbers, cut into matchsticks
1-2 carrots, cut into matchsticks
½ red capsicum, cut into matchsticks
½ -1 cup bean sprouts (optional)
3 shallots, sliced into matchstick lengths (optional)

  1. Wrap pancakes in foil. Warm in oven for 10-15 mins at 160c
2. TIPS FOR MUM

Busy Mums
Ask the Chinese butcher to slice the pork for you.

Tips
Roast pork, pancakes and hoi sin are available from Asian food stores. The pancakes are sold as Bejing or Peking Duck pancakes in the freezer section. Hoi sin is also available in supermarkets.

Hiding vegetables
The only way you can hide vegies in this dinner is to roll the pancakes yourself before serving and play a game whilst they are eating so they won’t notice what’s inside the pancake.

3. MAKING IT FUN

Creating a Scene
The scene is set with each ingredient in individual bowls. Children are very visual so they will like seeing to food laid out with all the bright colours.

Game Time
What is it?- Have a competition to see who can make their vegetables not crunch whilst eating them. It may also help teaches them to eat with their month closed.

Hands on

  • Washing the vegetables
  • Measuring out the hoi sin
  • Wrapping up the pancakes
  • Arrange the pork and salad vegetables on a platter
4. ADULT FRIENDLY
